[JO TWINS] ‘Boyfriend’ twins talk about their ressemblance to Kim Hyun Joong

Twin brothers Kwangmin and Youngmin of rookie idol group ‘Boyfriend‘ have been highly praised for their resemblance to singer Kim Hyun Joong.

Ever since their debut, they’ve been dubbed as the ‘Kim Hyun Joong twins’. In fact, before they were singers, the boys guested on an SBS program, whose panelists pointed out that the boys looked very similar to the SS501 star. Kim Hyun Joong himself acknowledged that the twins did look like him, which drew even more interest from netizens and viewers alike.

During a recent interview with enews, Kwangmin and Youngmin remarked that those who felt they resembled their senior were “too kind“. “We saw him recently on a music program, and he was awesome. We thought to ourselves that we wanted to be like him in the future,” they said.

The twins continued, “Kim Hyun Joong is someone with a very strong aura, as well as a great stage presence. We want to follow in his footsteps, being loved and acknowledged not only in Korea, but overseas as well.”

The two admit that they’re “still lacking in a lot of ways“, and that they continue to receive dance and vocal instruction from time to time. They will always work hard to develop as an artist. Perhaps in time, they’ll get to see the day where their juniors will cite Kwangmin and Youngmin as their mentors.

Meanwhile, Boyfriend is actively promoting their new song, “Don’t Touch My Girl“.

[INTERVIEW] Boyfriend Interview at Pynk FM

On the 25th of October 2011 at 6:30PM at Dusit Thani hotel, the six membered rookie group Boyfriend consisting of Jeongmin, Minwoo, Kwangmin, Youngmin, Donghyun and Hyunseong, had an open interview a day before the grand opening of Pynk radio 98 FM that will be held on the 26th at Park Paragon.

△How did you all come to form Boyfriend?

Minwoo: all six of us had the shared the same dream ever since we were young and that was to be an artist so we all auditioned. All of us had trained for at least a period of 2-6 years, and one more extra year for preparing our debut album.

△Since Kwangmin and Youngmin are twins, how do you tell the difference?

Jeongmin: the easiest way would be their hair color, because Youngmin would be blonde and Kwangmin has black hair. And also, Kwangmin’s jawline is sharper than Youngmin.

△What’s special about this album?

Donghyun: Around four weeks ago we had released the mini album along with our title song Don’t Touch My Girl. Because the beats are cheerful, but ironically the lyrics are the exact opposite, it makes it unbalanced in a good way.

△What’s the talent of each individual?

Jeongmin: Piano, guitar, i like to play many different instruments.

Minwoo: I like to dance, when i’m free i’ll search up dance moves on the internet.

Kwangmin: I like to read, write lyrics, and write raps, the raps for the songs in our album, i was the one who wrote it.

Youngmin: I want to give a lot of fanservice so i usually practice my aegyos

Donghyun: I like to play the piano since i was a little kid.

Hyunseong: I like to sing, I practice my vocals everyday, because I once went to a concert and it made me feel extremely touched, so when other people watch our performance I want people to feel touched too.

△First time in Thailand, is there any Thai cuisines you like?

Jeongmin: During lunch we were served with Pad Thai (T/N: Thai fried noodles) and it was delicious

△How do you feel about going up on stage for Pynk’s concert tomorrow?

Donghyun: First off, we really wanted to be able to have a chance to come to Thailand for a very long time and we finally are able to come so we’re really thankful. And tomorrow we’ll be performing in total of 4 songs, so please look forward to it!

△Other than showcase, you brought your belongings for auction, what did you bring?

Minwoo: We have the costumes from the first cycle of our promotion and hats. Please come to the auction, we really want to be able to help out the thai flood victims.

△Please say something to the fans.

Donghyun: We really have to thank all the fans that came to pick us up at the airport and sent us off to the hotel. We will try our best for everyone. Before we came we saw the news about the flooding in Thailand and thought that it was a pity. So we want everyone to stay strong and fight and it’ll eventually get better, so please come and enjoy the concert tomorrow because we will dedicate our concert for the flood victims.

[NEWS] Boyfriend feels they’ve become more masculine with their comeback

They debuted only a few months ago in April, but Boyfriend is already showing signs of maturity with their recent “Don’t Touch My Girl” comeback.

Siting down for an interview with Star News, leader Donghyun stated, “Our debut stage was nerve-wracking, but I think we feel a lot more at ease now. We’ve been hearing that we’ve gotten a lot more masculine and tough. Do you think this is enough to be a dependable boyfriend?”

The members have undergone a huge image change. Instead of flashing his signature smile,Kwangmin now opts to speak with his strong gaze instead. “I’ve cut my hair shorter and practiced making masculine facial expressions every day,” he revealed.

Donghyun added, “We even bulked up for the album. I think our fans will be quite surprised to hear that we have muscles now.”

Recently, they’ve been earning attention from fans overseas. Japanese fans flew in to support the boys’ comeback stage, and more and more fans are beginning to visit them at their rehearsal studio. Considering how they haven’t promoted overseas yet, the attention is still foreign to them.

The group revealed, “We were really surprised to see fans from Japan, China, and Thailand at our fan signing. Online, we noticed a lot of fans from South America and the Middle East as well. Just the mere thought of becoming Hallyu stars excite us.”

I will never forget my initial dreams and work hard to improve every day. I have something I want to request from you. To be able to improve in our activities, can you return the cellphones we gave up to you previously if we win first place? To be able to communicate more efficiently, we need cellphones, haha”.

Kwangmin(16) made a request towards the TV station’s staff. “We weren’t experienced in doing variety shows during our first single album. Now that we’ve improved a little and have the urge to go on variety shows, please use Boyfriend whenever you need to. The skills of imitating the action of singing in the dorm, training vocal cords to imitate others and more”.

▲ You are already in a second single area, do you have different feelings? 

Youngmin: We feel more free on the stage. At first, working with those cameras is so exhausting. We looked so unnatural because of we were full of things to worry about. We also have to practice a lot in the mirror

▲ How was the atmosphere for now? 

Donghyun: Lots of movements so that we raise a lot muscle. More sense of competition among the members about exercising.

▲ How about your fans? 

Hyunseong: Their fanchants, they make us happy and move. They are surprise us every time we are on the stage. I said, “Is this really our fans?”

Minwoo: Fans react a lot for any events that we go to. Makes the stage like a place to play around. Everything you do, makes a lot of reaction from the fans.

▲ As a rookie, what’s your goal?

Donghyun: We would like to be highlighted everytime. With Sistar sunbaenims, we are really honoured to be amateur and they’ll helping us continuously as we are on the same company.
